Nepal.
We weren't too astonished by Kathmandu. It looks like India that we know quite well (people, religion, houses, way of life...). After some days in Kathmandu, we started our eighteen-days trek in the Khubu Valley towards the Everest. We had planned to go until Gokyo Peak and the Kala Patar summits but we cancelled the second one because it was very hard and cold. The landscapes from the summit of Gokyo Peak are splendid : the sacred lakes, the Everest and three summits above 8000 m. Actually, the treks in Himalaya are very differents from those in Kilimanjaro. We had some difficulties to leave Lukla because of the weather. The planes coulden't fly. We stayed four days more in this town, waiting for a departure. We had planned to stay a week in the Kathmandu valley but we could spend only three days before going to Hong Kong.
Hong Kong.
To leave Kathmandu and to arrive at Hong Kong, what a big change. Lots of very high buildings. luxeous shopping centers, a lot of people in the streets : like a aunts nest. However, it is always possible to find peaceful places in surrounding islands. We also went to Macau : it a strange place that has kept quite a lot of portuguese features (language, architecture, food, churches...).
Japan.
Our English doesn't help a lot here. People speak only Japanese and sometimes two or three words of english. But after a while we manage to find our way or something to eat even if the result is sometimes surprising. Temples and zen gardens are fascinating. We enjoy to visit them. Unfortunately, the weather is cloudy and rainy and there is a lack of light for the pictures. It's a pity. We'll leave Japan on twenty fifth of december to go to New Zealand. Some other news later.
